Inclusive Education Toolkit

Inclusive Education Toolkit

The toolkit consolidates tools developed by Able Child and its network members over decades of co-delivering inclusive education programming. It includes tools which have been developed in collaboration with UWEZO in Rwanda, Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC), Action Network for the Disabled (ANDY) in Kenya, Child Support Tanzania (CST), Federation of Disability Organisation in Malawi (FEDOMA) and Zambia Association of Parents for Children with Disabilities (ZAPCD).

About this resource

Able Child has a long history of designing and implenting inclusive education programmes in Africa, in partnership with African disability organisations. Inclusive education facilitates all children learning together, rather than special education which isolates children with disabilities away from other learners. It empowers children to learn side-by-side with the other children from their communities, helping challenge stigma around disability from an early age.

Inclusive education has been demonstrated to improve learning outcomes for all children, both with and without disabilities. This toolkit contains 25 tools that provide helpful solutions for organisations and practitioners working across development and humanitarian sectors on how to plan and implement disability-inclusive education programmes.
