Cargill

Cargill has been in partnership with Able Child since 2018 and has been a continuous and generous supporter of our work.

Cargill supports our core work building the capacity of our partner organisations in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi and Zambia.

Our need to exist – As civil society organisations in the countries where we work continue to cope with the overall impact of Covid-19, they are further challenged by resource-poor environments of unsupported legislation. This is what makes our work more crucial than ever.  As schools began to gradually open up, lockdowns were replaced with new restrictions for safety. We had to continue navigating through these difficult conditions to protect children with disabilities from becoming increasingly isolated and at risk. These challenges were further burdened by the need to ensure that local organisations are robust and sustainable, and could persist after the crisis to fight for the rights of children with disabilities in the countries where they work.

We are grateful – Local partnership and capacity building are at the core of our work. We believe the best way to make the greatest impact for children with disabilities in Africa, is by strengthening local organisations so they can take action and advocate for change locally. Cargill’s support for our work is, as ever, a huge asset.
