Karl joined Able Child as CEO in April 2018.
Karl has worked to develop creative and innovative solutions to some of the most difficult social problems faced by young people from disadvantaged communities throughout his career. He has over twelve years’ experience managing national programmes and organisations for children and young people, both in the UK and in sub-Saharan Africa; working across Uganda, South Africa and Ghana.
Karl is the founder and now a trustee of Uganda Creates, a small charity providing recreational, educational and training opportunities to young people from disadvantaged communities in Uganda, now 10 years old. He has also spent three and a half years working at UpRising, a youth leadership and social mobility charity in the UK, where he has worked as Director of Programmes and Operations, managing the portfolio of national programmes across eight locations in the UK, and managing the internal operations of the organisation.
Karl has a speciality in the programme and organisational development, developing and implementing interventions for organisations including Africaid, the Football Foundation and the Wildlife Trusts; and tackling a diverse range of issues including HIV/AIDS prevention, environmental sustainability and youth unemployment.
He has two undergraduate degrees, a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Development and an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy.
